He taught geography at the College of the Bahamas, the University of the South Pacific and Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. His greatest delight is painting the world's tropical islands, especially the Bahamas. View Cards | E-mail Donald Russell was born in Nassau and educated at Xavier's College where he studied art. Although he became interested in painting at an early age it was not until several years ago that he decide to fully pursue a career in painting. His underwater sea life is vibrant with colour and he also loves to paint old Bahamian homes and street scenes of the Out-Islands. She studied fine art at The University of Western Ontario, Canada, before returning home to the Bahamas in 1979. Although away from painting in the early 80's Jennifer took up an active career in both painting and the opening of "Charlotte's Gallery" in downtown Nassau. The goal of the gallery was to provide an opportunity for up and coming Bahamian Artists to display and sell their art alongside more established artists. Many young local artists got their start at Charlotte's and it is remembered fondly by artists and art appreciators alike. Most of the "Bahamacards" artists were once featured there. Jennifer painted in acrylics and oils but her main love was watercolours. Her natural technique and soft palette attracted admirers both locally and abroad, her work hangs in homes worldwide. View Cards | Email John Paul was born in Nassau in 1968, he attended Queen’s College before continuing his education at schools in both England and Canada. Upon completing his degree he returned to the islands where his enthusiasm for art continued to develop and he is now devoting the majority of his time to painting local scenes and people. He does private painting commissions both locally and internationally and also provides illustration/design work for the tourist industry and international magazines. John Paul holds an annual one-man show in Nassau. View Cards | E-mail Phil Dorsett Born 27 February 1949, Philip William Dorsett, known as Phil, is the fourth of nine children to Nova and Neville Dorsett of Nassau. Art was always a form of relaxation and inner strength because he was shy and reclusive, even in a big family. Dorsett graduated from Prairie View AM University in Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1979. He also has a Master's degree in Visual Arts with an Administration focus. He has worked as a freelance artist/designer of greeting cards, T-shirts, books, album covers and as a tenor soloist. And he taught Art at Government High School for 20 years.
